But in this new report, @WendyRWang finds very little racial difference in the Success Sequence’s associations w/ poverty:
- 97% of whites who follow the sequence avoid poverty in 30s - 96% of blacks who follow the sequence avoid poverty in 30s
Young adults from poor families are much more likely to rise out of poverty as 30somethings if they follow the Success Sequence.
- 94% of young adults from lower-income families who followed the SS are not poor as 30somethings
Y adults who marry before childbearing about 2 times more likely to move into middle/upper class, compared to those who have kids before marriage Y adults who marry before childbearing about 65% lower odds of being poor in mid 30s
