17 The fear of the Lord was upon all nations, so great was the glory of the Lord, which was upon his people. And the Lord blessed the land, and they were blessed upon the mountains, and upon the high places, and did flourish.
18 And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.
(Moses 7:17–18)
Peter Diamandis says we'll speedrun every science fiction movie ever written in the next decade.
Moon bases, nuclear plants on the moon, 500,000 data center satellites in orbit:
8 predictions he made:
1) Longevity escape velocity arrives in 2033
That's Ray Kurzweil's date, and Diamandis backs it.
Escape velocity is the year science starts adding more than a year to your life for every year you're alive. Past that point the arithmetic stops running against you, and everything below gets easier to believe.
2) All disease cured within a decade
This one is Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs, and Diamandis relays it.
Cancer, cardiovascular, inflammatory. Hassabis said it on stage at Davos last year and Diamandis calls the presentation shocking.
3) Human lifespan doubled in ten years
Same source, same stage. Hassabis said we'd double the human lifespan inside the next ten years.
Diamandis's addition is that lifespan isn't the point. Healthspan is. How long you actually feel amazing.
4) Ambient AI in your home within two years
He already runs one. It's called Skippy, it lives on two Mac Studios in his house, and it has his WhatsApp, iMessage, email and calendar.
In two years he expects it reading your biometrics and adjusting your day around them.
5) Surgery is the next thing AI takes
The best diagnosis already comes from an AI rather than a human doctor, in his view.
Surgery is next, and he puts it five years out. He frames it against the fact that an operation can currently bankrupt the person having it.
6) Governments start printing money in two years
Not at COVID levels, but he expects direct payments to citizens inside two years.
The trigger is downsizing. He expects companies to go from full staff to around 20% of their employee base.
7) The backlash peaks in two to three years
He predicts a cacophony of voices demanding we cease developing AI entirely.
He also thinks it arrives too late. His view is that the technology simply isn't regulatable the way people imagine it is.
8) Moon bases inside the decade
NASA's administrator says we land, then bring nuclear plants and mine water ice.
Add Elon's 500,000 orbital data center satellites and Diamandis says the whole picture might be off by two or three years. Not more.
TLDR
1) Longevity escape velocity arrives in 2033
2) All disease cured within a decade
3) Human lifespan doubled in ten years
4) Ambient AI in your home within two years
5) Surgery is the next thing AI takes
6) Governments start printing money in two years
7) The backlash peaks in two to three years
